Ruthin Ram Sale 2017
Another massive store sale at Ruthin market drew crowds from all over North and Mid Wales for one of the season's premier sheep events. Mr D I Edwards of Llanarmon travelled up to award the day's Champion to Elfyn Owen of the Cernyw flock. This award continued a great season for Elfyn and his family after their great success at this year's Welshpool Progeny Show. A great strong ram lamb sired by Cassington G5 out of a ewe by the homebred Cernyw C15 took the honours and went on to sell for the day's top price of 720 gns. The Cassington tup also sired Elfyn's yearling ewe which gained Champion at the progeny show.

Reserve Champion went to Mr Edward Owen of the Tyrnog flock. This upstanding ram came from a strong pen of yearlings and was sired by Olives F11 and out of a homebred ewe by Craig Yr Orsedd A8. This ram took the day's second highest price making 520 gns and confirming the quality of the judging.

Female champion came from the Jones family of the Fairview flock from a good consignment of yearling ewes and ewe lambs.

An excellent clearance was achieved and again the small sale showed an improving standard of stock to cement its place on the Bluefaced sales calendar.
