Ballinrobe Second Sale – South of Ireland 3rd October 2024

On Thursday the 3rd October the South of Ireland Bluefaced Leicester Club held there 3rd and final sale in Ballinrobe Livestock Market. Tom Carter chairman of the Mayo Mule and Grey-face Group  was tasked with the judging duties on the day, and he found his 1st prize ram lamb and overall champion in Tom Staunton’s, Mask View Flock pen lot 5. Got by R0O4 Beeches and selling to €1010 to Shane O Haire . Tom found his reserve champion in the pen of Shauna Fitzmaurice of the Drinane flock. A shearling ram got by the R005 Ballygorian more selling to €640.

Other High prices on the day ,2nd prize ram lamb went to Michael and Rachel Staunton Markethill Flock and selling for €800, New breeder Jack Wickham sold his powerful lamb for €940, Joe Scahill saw €860 for his smart coloured lamb.

A smaller showing of sheep with 30 on show resulted in a good trade with averages and clearance up.
