For the 62^nd Annual Show & Sale there was an entry of 21 Registered Bluefaced Leicesters comprising of 16 Shearling Rams and 5 Ram lambs. Trade was steady with the sale average being £902.30 for 13 shearlings sold.

The pre-sale show was very ably judged by breeder Mr Robert Purvis, Yeavering, based near Kelso.

Robert found his Overall Champion in the Shearling pen of local breeders Messrs W R & J Barron, Hexhamshire. They are regular sellers at this sale. Their homebred Shearling, 1068/V015 Hexhamshire, sired by 125/P019 West Bolton and out of a homebred ewe 1068/N032 Hexhamshire went on to sell for the top price of the day, £1200, to Messrs W Raine

The Reserve Overall Champion went to Messrs T L Forster & Son, Lowes Fell. 50/V002 is sired by 50/S020 Lowes Fell and out of a homebred Ewe 50/N026 Lowes Fell, he went on to sell for £950.

Three rams hit the £1000 mark. The first being 1068/V016 from Messrs W R & J Barron, Hexhamshire, 1068/V016, sired by 125/P019 West Bolton. The next one was from Messrs A G & D Bisset, Middle Dukesfield, 584/V009 is sired by 4024/R016 Espley and stood fourth in the pre-sale show. Messrs T L Forster & Son of Lowes Fell also sold a ram for £1000 – 50/V012 was sired by 3935/S002 Piel View and was the last ram through the ring.

Although numbers were down, demand was there and with all 13 Shearlings presented for sale being sold with a 100% clearance, the sale average was up £309.18 on the year.
