Mr I Montgomery, Mistyburn
On Saturday at the South of Ireland Bluefaced Leicester Club sale we had a fantastic turn out of sheep. It was a credit to all that showed sheep for sale.
Ian Montgomery of the Mistyburn flock had the tough task of judging. Ian found his overall champion and top priced sheep of the sale in Tom Staunton’s, Mask View Flock. A fine example of the breed and a tremendous lamb. He was got by R001 Drummuck and a Holmview bred ewe selling to €2450.
Ian returned to the ram lamb pen to find his reserve champion. Also a fantastic example of the breed, a real smart lamb bred by Kieran McGrath and Patrick McGrath of the Caoramor Crossing Leicesters flock. Got by P006 Drummuck and a Farden Popeye ewe selling to €1760.
In the aged ram & shearling class Ian put Jonathan wall’s of the Clogher flock sheep in first place. A giant sheep got by N002 Farden and a H001 Starbog ewe selling to €1620. Bred at Temain.
Ian returned to the Mask view pen to find his first place ewe lamb. A tall flashy lamb got by R007 Mistyburn and a K001 Mullaghwee ewe selling to €950. Congratulations to all the competitors for super turned out sheep.
Aged & Shearling class:
Top price €1620, 35 sheep sold to an average of €872.
Ram lamb class :
Top price €2450, 110 lambs sold to an average of €682.50
Ewe lamb class:
Top price €950, 20 lambs sold to an average of €438.50.
