Ballybofey & Stranorlar

Mr Eoin Loughran, Hilltop Farm

A great day’s trading was enjoyed at the SOI Bluefaced Leicester Club sale in Ballybofey & Stranorlar Mart on Saturday, with almost 100% clearance achieved.

A Big thanks to out judge on the day Eoin Loughran for doing a great job.

In the Shearling Ram class, Paul & Deirdre Clinton took 1st place, with Chris Lyons in 2nd.

The Ram Lamb class was won by Kieran & Patrick McGrath, whose lamb – W013 also claimed the Champion title and sold for €1,700 to mule breeder Paul Gallen. His sire was Mistyburn Bolt and his mother Caoramor S044 who’s lambs last year went on very well for prominent Donegal Mule breeders William and Pauric Gallen. Kevin Staunton (Maskview) was 2nd and Reserve Champion, selling for €1,420. John Morahan placed 3rd, while Shauna Fitzmaurice took 4th.

Top price of the day went to the last lamb in the Caormaor pen – 3678/W020 again got by Mistyburn Bolt and an old Giant Causeway M48 ewe. He sold for €1860 to Mule breeders Tommie and Joseph Boyle

Trade was very strong throughout, with the majority of rams selling between €700 and €1,200.

Congratulations to all exhibitors and thanks to all buyers for supporting a successful sale.
