This year’s sale saw an entry of 41 Registered Bluefaced Leicesters with a catalogued entry of 26 Shearling Rams, 6 Ram Lambs and 9 females. With a healthy ring of buyers keen to bid for the lots on offer, this resulted in an average of £526.54 a small increase on the year

The pre sale show was judged by young breeder Jack Wilkinson of the Bollihope Flock based in the heart of County Durham.

Jack found his overall champion in the shearling ram pen of Messrs T L Forster & Son, Lowes Fell based locally at Hexham, Northumberland.  He was a home bred ram, Lowes Fell 50/R16, sired by Homebred tup Lowes Fell N013 out of a homebred ewe Lowes Fell 50/N021, he was later sold for £900, to Ben Sartin, Barnard Castle

Top price on the day also came from the Lowes Fell pen this was for the second ram in the ring sired by the same sire as the champion homebred N013 he was later cashed for £1350, selling to regular buyer High Studdon Ltd, Allendale

Lowes Fell sold their R013 ram, again sired by the homebred sire N013 selling for £1000 to R Sinton & Son, Birtley

Reserve Overall Champion was awarded to the second prize shearling ram brought out for sale by Richard, Jean and Shaun Barron, Hexhamshire, he was sired by Whinnyhall 4369/K017 and out of a homebred ewe 1068/L015 and was cashed at £600.00

The female champion, came from Mrs D E Crane, Court Green, this was a homebred gimmer 5060/R009 sired by Glaisdale 3939/L002 out of a Lunesdale Ewe 963/J063 she was sold for £280
