This year’s sale marked the 60^th Anniversary of this Annual Show and Sale. There was an entry of 33 Registered Bluefaced Leicesters with a catalogued entry of 24 Aged & Shearling Rams and 9 Ram Lambs. With a healthy ring of buyers keen to bid for the lots on offer, this resulted in an overall sale average of £1228.80 a considerable increase on the year.

The pre-sale show was judged by breeder Miss Jodi Shadforth of the Amerston Flock based near Hartlepool.

Jodi found her Overall Champion in the Ram Lamb pen of Mr A McClymont, Kirkstead who is based in Selkirkshire. The early start being very worthwhile. His Ram Lamb, 2625/T015 Kirkstead, sired by 119/T001Q Cocklaw E+ and out of a homebred ewe 2625/N034 Kirkstead went on to sell for the top price of the day, £7000, to Mr A Carr of Bentham.

The second Top price on the day was £2000 for a Ram Lamb from the flock of Mrs L Fleming, Falnash. Her lamb 5121/T002 stood second in the pre-sale show, he was sired by 2625/S001 Kirkstead Impeccable and out of a Kirkstead Ewe, 2625/M052. This was sold to a repeat customer in Aberdeenshire.

The Reserve Overall Champion was awarded to the first prize Shearling Ram brought out for sale by Messrs T L Forster & Son, Lowes Fell, 50/S002 was sired by  a homebred ram 50/N013 Lowes Fell and out of a homebred ewe 50/N020 and was sold for £1200.

Messrs T L Forster & Son, Lowes Fell also had the Top priced shearling, 50/S022 Lowes Fell selling for £1350, he was sired by 4369/K001 Whinnyhall and out of a homebred ewe 50/P026 Lowes Fell. This was followed closely behind by a Shearling from Messrs A G & D Bisset, Middle Dukesfield – 584/S009 sired by 2906/N014 Bonvilston and out of a homebred Ewe 584/N020 Middle Dukesfield sold for £1300.
