With a catalogued entry of 79 sheep there was a larger selection of traditional and crossing type rams on offer at Tavistock.
Judge Mr Tudor Harris, Bonvilston selected Helen Havill’s home bred shearling ram Martin Grange 3585/P021 as his overall champion at the pre sale show. He is sired by Auchry 4447/N006 out of a homebred ewe M031 sired by Rossiebank J003
The commercial sheep trade has taken a dip at the moment and this was reflected in the trade with the champion being sold for 500gns.
Top price on the day was for a shearling ram from Brian Dallyn, Killington, the ram was bred by Richard Howatson, Clwyd 4408/P003 sired by Hassiewells 3345/L007 out of a Libberton ewe 3729/L008 and he was sold for 600gns.
Top price ram lamb was for a home bred lamb from Richard Turner, Brindifield 3037/R013 he is sired by homebred ram Brindifield Champion 3037/M001 out of a homebred ewe K052 sired by Blarnavaid Barney 4244/H007 and he sold for 420gns
