A new venue for the Scottish Progeny show saw Glenkens show, in the heart of the spectacular Galloway countryside, host the event. Numbers were affected by the Blue Tongue issue, with a few pens, from all breeds, staying away.

The quality was never in doubt however, with a great show, especially in the Traditional section, which although dominated by the Kirkstead team, saw some great sheep forward for the judge, Rodney Blackhall, Sheeoch. His Champion came from the Ewe class, with a four crop ewe, by the L1 Ashes, who was the reserve Interbreed Champion at the Highland last year, but brought out of retirement just for the show as they had another team headed to Peebles too. She has lost none of her presence in the show ring either, full of quality and power. She was also part of the pair of ewes which took the Progeny title too. The male champion was the powerful £22,000 Glamis tup, who has won the Highland and Border Union already this season, and was the sire to both the tup lamb and gimmer lamb class winners and the progeny class winners in the gimmer lamb and tup lambs too, with the gimmer lambs taking the Reserve progeny championship along the way. The Kirkstead team also completed a one two in the tup shearling class, with a pair by the £23,000 Espley, who was also behind the pair of gimmers too.

Competing against a team like that takes something a bit special to squeeze out a red ticket, but it was a season debut to remember for  the Hippingstanes flock, Glasgow, with a super smart gimmer by the Piel View tup and out of a Craig Yr Orsedd ewe. She took the gimmer class and followed up by taking the reserve champion slot in the traditional.
