With a catalogued entry of 297 it was nice to see a return to the pre sale show at this Centre.

Judging his first Association sale was Mr Stuart Nelson from the Medwyn flock who travelled down form his home in Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Stuart had a good entry of sheep in all classes to cast his eye over and eventually awarded the coveted overall champion rosette to the female champion.  The champion was an eye catching homebred aged ewe from Phil May’s Derwenlas Flock 3822/M021 sired by Parton 233/L043 out of homebred ewe Derwenlas J044 going back to Woodcroft 110/H008 on the dam side.  The champion entered the ring as the last consignment to be sold on the day and was eventually knocked down at 1100 guineas.

Reserve Female Champion was awarded to the first prize ewe lamb from D Roberts & Son, Trofarth 4394/P023

Reserve overall champion was awarded to the male champion this was for a powerful shearling ram 2906/N008 from the Bonvilston Flock of Tudor & Janet Harris, and is sired by Myfyrian K008 which was sold at this centre in 2020 for the top price of 2,200 guineas, the gavel went down at 1100 guineas.  The second offering forward from Bonvilston 2906/N019 was another homebred shearling ram sired by homebred ram 2906/K010 and was sold at 1000 guineas.

Top Price on the day went to the first consignor through the ring E P Hughes & Co, Porth with his homebred shearling ram 4230/N013 sired by Piel View M004 out of a homebred ewe Porth K022 and was cashed for 1400 guineas.

There were a number of shearling rams hitting the 1000 guineas and over,  these included from the Myfyrian X flock of Gareth Roberts his 1183/N002 Myfyrian sired by Low Espley 4237/J005 selling for 1200 guineas.

The second prize shearling ram from the Performance Recorded Flock of Phil Davies, Gornal 3543/N053 sired by Woodcroft 110/M007 out of homebred ewe Gornal M012 with an index of 283 was knocked down at 1150 guineas.

The first offering in the ring from Mr & Mrs R & J Bowen, Maesmawr was their homebred ram 3277/N001 sired by Wimbolds 4384/M001 out of a homebred ewe 3277/L028 this one selling at 1100 guineas, their second in the ring was another shearling by the same Wimbolds sire this one selling at 1150 guineas.

Top Price in the Ram Lamb section came from a stylish home bred lamb from the Trofarth flock of D Roberts & Son, 4394/P001 sired by a homebred ram Trofarth 4394/G006 out of a Carrog ewe 4532/K021,  knocked down at 1200 guineas and will be joining the Killington Flock of Brian Dallyn.

Second highest price in the Ram Lamb section went to the Performance Recorded lamb from M C Roberts, Myfyrian this was a substitute entry 1183/P010 selling at 1000 guineas.
